Russia: Russians cast their votes on Sunday morning (September 20) during the third and final day of a parliamentary election widely cast as a test of public support for President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.
Voters had a choice between paper and electronic ballots, with some preferring paper ones. "Any electronic form of voting allows falsification; there is a possibility of that. When there is a paper ballot, it's not easy to change it," one of the voters who asked for a paper ballot, Pyotr Vasilyev, told Reuters.
The State Duma vote, the first since Russia launched its full-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022, is expected to see the ruling United Russia party easily retain its dominance in a political system critics say does not tolerate dissent.
Putin told the nation in a televised address before the election that the vote would underline support for Russian troops fighting in Ukraine.
